Producers Comment:
I wasn't there for Tina Turner, but for John Fogerty, who opened for Tina Turner.
Being a CCR/John Fogerty-fan since the late sixties this was my first chance to see John Fogerty live.
It was an experience I'll never forget.
For me Fogerty was the main course and Tina was just dessert.

I taped the (live) TV program of this concert from television, hoping there would be (more than) a little Fogerty as well.
But the Fogerty performance got lost in a lot of bla bla of the host and too many Dutch "wannabe" celebs.
After all these years I still think it's a shame that no Fogerty song was broadcasted
You only see a few seconds of John Fogerty.

The bla bla and the lottery also clashed with the Tina Turner performance, but all in all it's a nice DVD for Tina Turner fans.

BTW:
Not all Tina Turner fans know where she got her songs from.
When John Fogerty played "Proud Mary" I heard a (blonde) woman in front of me say; "That's cheap, he's doing a Tina Turner song."

2008 saw the Queen of Rock "n" Roll, Tina Turner return to the live circuit and announce the ‘Tina Turner's 50th Anniversary Concert Tour’ much to the delight of her fans. The tour kicked off in Kansas in October 2008 and continued for six months visiting over ten countries in two continents.
Tina performed an astounding ninety shows, repeatedly selling out, with nightly standing ovations. Millions of fans and critics alike were blown away by Tina’s age defying high-octane performances showing that the star has no sign of slowing down at nearly 70 years young. The megastar delivered an energetic, powerful, uncompromised two hour set performing classic hits with incredible musicians, vocalists, dancers and ninjas, supported by stunning production, innovative choreography, spectacular lighting, pyrotechnics and much more.
As Tina finished the final show in Sheffield in May 2009 she said, “I have been overwhelmed, astounded and taken to new heights by the reaction of the thousands of fans who came to see me every night. This has been a tour to remember, to hold dear in my heart and what a way to celebrate my 50 years in the business…to sum up…it’s been super!”
To commemorate this record breaking world tour Parlophone will release the Tina Live DVD on 28th September. The DVD was filmed at GelreDome, Arnhem in Holland in March 2009 where Tina played to an enormous crowd of 70,000 people.
Directed by David Mallet for Serpent Productions, he says, ‘Tina is modest. The credits for her stage career should always have read "staged by Tina Turner". As such it has been a positive pleasure over the years to translate her intentions onto film.”

She was born as Anna Mae Bullock on November 26, 1939 in Nutbush, Tennessee. Her father, Floyd Richard Bullock, was a farm overseer and her mother, Zelma, was a factory worker.
She is mostly of African American and European descent.

Tina Turner and her elder sister were abandoned by their parents and they initially lived with their grandmother in Nutbush, Tennessee. She attended Flag Grove School. She shifted to St. Louis after her grandmother’s death and joined her mother there. 

She got an opportunity to sing on stage in night clubs and her earlier desire to take up nursing as a profession was totally forgotten. An opportunity to sing for a record ‘A Fool in Love’ came her way as the original singer did not turn up for the recording session. She gave a sterling performance for the song.
Her stage name was changed to Tina Turner and the record became a big hit. She married Ike Turner, the leader of the King’s of Rhythm. Together they started performing on stage and became very popular. Then they got a chance to sing for Phil Spector production ‘River Deep, Mountain High’. Even though it failed in the United States, it became a big hit in Europe. Tina turner achieved super star status in Europe. 

Her achievements in rock music made her the ‘Queen of Rock n’ Roll’. She became one of the biggest selling music artists of all time. Nearly 200 million copies of her records have been sold world wide. Her marriage to Ike ended in a divorce in 1978.
In 1984, she made a come back with ‘What’s Love Got to Do with It’ and it became an all time hit. She later won MTV Video Music Award, two American Music Awards, and four Grammy Awards. 

She enacted the role of Aunty Entity in ‘Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome’. She has won 8 Grammy Awards. She is listed as the Greatest Artist of all time. She has performed all over the world. She lives in Europe and divides her time between Switzerland, England and France. She has two sons of her own and she has adopted two sons of Ike Turner from his other relationships.
