COMMENT:
Johnny's usual 2nd guitar? player was
Luther Perkins, not Carl.
By the time? this was recorded, Luther
Perkins had passed away. Bob Wootton took his place. While Bob continued
to play Luther's famous Boom-chicka-boom style, Carl added some great additional
guitar to the sound, and he also played most of the solos. After Carl quit,
many other guitarists had this role, among them Marty Stuart in the early
80's.

In the intro to "Man In Black" Johnny

document -- probably one of the first appearances of an American country
artist behind the Iron Curtain, some of the earliest footage of Rosanne
Cash!

COMMENT:
This wonderful and rarely seen concert
comes from a bootleg DVD acquired in Germany last year in a cheap bookstore,
out of all places.
The bootleg's title is "The Beast In Me
- Live in New York 1994", and it contains no further info regarding the
exact location, date etc.
After a little digging we can confirm
that the above details are correct, and that this set was probably shot
for broadcast at VH1 at the time.
There's no channel logo stamp here or
any other identifyers. Also, the end credits have been pasted over.
The whole thing was shot in B?W and it
gives a special and personal insight into the early days of Cash's American
Recordings era.
This footage was never officially released.
The video quality is awesome, probably
a very early generation copy of the master.
Originally the DVD contained also some
officially released bonus tracks from the 50's and 60's - sorry folks,
these have been removed.
The Menu and chaptering come courtesy
of the bootleg company who shall remain nameless.

AUTHOR'S INFO:
This concert was originally included in
a torrent which also included the 1971 Johnny Cash show also from Danish
TV which has subsequently been released officially. All I did was take
the Midtfyns Festival portion of the torrent, chapter it and give it a
menu. So many thanks to raytobe for the original upload and to rene for
providing the files for the show. The Lineage included in the original
torrent was a little short of details, but an internet search provided
me with something a little better, which is what i've used here.
