ROM version has a size of 256K. It is split into 16K pages. 2 Pages are standard CPC roms, one of which is a "extension rom".
Part of the Brunword word processor is copied into RAM. This is done by it's "extension rom".
The ROM Select port (&DFXX) is decoded and has 2 roles.
First is to select which ROM page appears in the range &C000-&FFFF of the Z80's address space. (It seems bit 7,6,5,4 must be 0). Bits 3..0 are decoded as the page number. Page 1 and 2 only seem to be visible at this time.
The second role (when bit 5,4 are used), makes a page visible in the range &4000-&FFFF of the Z80's address space. Bit 5 seems to be rom enable/disable, bit 4 is set for the second role (0 for other), and bits 3..0 are the page number.
The exact decoding of the ROM select port is unknown. The exact function of all the data bits is not known.

CPC WIKI BRUNWORD ROM TEXTWRITER

CPC - BRUNWORD ROM TEXTWRITER
MK4.

MK4. This version was published in 1995.
The ROM has a size of 512KBs, split in 16KBs pages (32). The pages 1, 2 and 3 ($C1, $C2 and $C3 are the page number for the hardware) are standard CPC ROMs and they can be paged in at the normal $C000-$FFFF range.
The content of these 32 pages are:
0 ($C0): Tutorial.
1 ($C1), 2 ($C2) and 3 ($C3): Brunword and Info-Script ($C3 includes references of the font and dictionary pages).
4 ($C8), 5 ($C9), 6 ($CA) and 7 ($CB): Dictionary.
8 - 30 ($D0-$D3, $D8-$DB, $E0-$E3, $E8-$EB, $F0-$F3, $F8-$FA): 23 fonts, one for page.
31 ($FB): Examples.
The ROM includes hardware to decode the ROM Select port ($DFXX) and make visible all the 32 pages (included the three previous) in the range $4000-$7FFF, the RAM page under this range is not disable and can be written normally (this was used to dump the pages).
For simplify the page number to send to the ROM Select port, we are going to consider that the pages are grouped in 64 KBs banks (8). With that in mind, the page number to send has the next format: %11bbb0pp
The two most weight bits need to be at 1 to make visible the page; with the three bits bbb, we select the 64 KBs bank; the next bit need to be 0; and with the two less weight bits, we select which of the four pages of the bank is going to be visible.
At this time, Brunword can not be used in any emulator or rom board, because there is no support for the clever ROM paging system used. It seems to be a kind of hardware copy protection.

CPC WIKI MP2 TV CONVERTOR

CPC SCHNEIDER  - MP2 (TV CONVERTOR)
A TV-modulator and power supply by Amstrad for the classic CPC-computers
As the Amstrad CPCs always came together with a monitor, normally there was no need for a TV modulator inside the CPC as seen on other home computers (Sinclair Spectrum, Commodore C64/C128 and so on). As the power supply was included inside the monitor, there wasn't an external power supply either.
If you bought an Amstrad CPC together with one of the Amstrad GT64/GT65 Green Monitors however, you might have wanted the ability to play games on the colour TV-set later, so Amstrad also made the MP-1/MP-2 devices. They provided the power needed by the CPCs, so that you didn't have to carry the monitor around just to have power, and a TV-modulator which modulated the monitor signal in a way that it could be seen on a regular TV-set.
Having an MP-1/MP-2 today is more or less just a gimmick, as a self-made TV SCART cable gives better picture quality (SCART connectors weren't common back in the 80s) and the power can be taken from a PC AT or even ATX power supply as well.
The difference between the MP-1 and MP-2 models is just the additional 12V power supply for the CPC664/CPC6128's disk drive in the later model.

Supply In: ~220V/50Hz, 12W
Supply Out: +5V (both MP1 and MP2), +12V (MP2 only)
Video In: RGB, Sync (6pin DIN)
Video Out: Unknown, probably UHF 37 or so (?) (2pin)
Note: There has been also a french version of the MP2, the MP2F (with Scart output). As well as a spanish version, the MPV 001 (with unknown output).

CPC WIKI POWER CONTROLLER

CPC  - POWERCONTROLLER-SET
Connects to the 34pin Printer Port. The first 7 relays are controlled by the seven Centronics Data lines, the eight relay is controlled by Centronics Strobe signal.
The relays can be thus controlled by writing an 8bit value to Port EFxxh. Observe that the CPC hardware inverts the strobe bit (so bit7 has opposite meaning as the other bits).
The relays are rated 7A/120VAC, 7A?/24VDC, 5A/240VAC. Each relay has three contacts (common, position 1, and position 2). The relays are driven by an external 7.5V power supply (required since the printer port does not output supply voltages).

CPC WIKI VIDEO DIGITIZER

 CPC - VIDEO DIGITIZER
VIDI is a video -frame grabber / digitiser specifically designed for use with the Amstrad CPC range of computers.

With this package, it is possible to capture a picture from any standard video source, camera, video recorder, even other computers. You may then save this picture on disc or tape, produce dynamic effects, manipulate the picture or re_display it on your CPC computer screen.

Pictures can be grabbed in MODE 2 (hi-resolution, 2 shades), MODE 1 (med-resolution, 4 shades) or a special 16 shade MODE O synthesised picture.

VIDI contains its own CRT controller and 16k of video RAM enabling it to capture a moving picture at over 6 frames per second.

A ribbon cable with dual expansion connectors connects VIDI to the computer. A suitable video lead is also supplied, fitted with RCA (phono) and BNC (video) connectors.

Software is provided in two forms, an interactive control program and BASIC extensions (RSX's) for simple control of the sophisticated VIDI hardware.
